I'm certainly not saying that you shouldn't pay the taxes you owe on time, but is this really news?

I don't think the Picayune was looking to make trouble for the Morrells, I think the Morrells were trying to get out ahead of the WWL report. Guess the Picayune had to cover the press release.

But even if you're WWL, do you really bother with a story about two years worth of unpaid property taxes totaling not even a thousand bucks? I mean, CHM had health issues. Give me a break. There rest of the WWL investigation was so much more substantive than that. These contractor elites and machine bosses are seriously cheating the city to the tune of what looked like hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The city is coming up about 10% short. That's 10% more that could go towards plugging the hole in the firemen's pension, fixing NORD playgrounds, etc.

It took a lot of leg work to put that report together. Kudos to WWL.

Not the most earth-shattering report in the world, but it's an important step in keeping them honest.
