I reserve the right to deny that this ever happened.
Barack Obama will choose Chuck Hagel as his running mate (weird, right?) and defeat Republicans Mike Huckabee and John McCain in a not-so-close raise.
My rationale for the Hagel pick is that he only sort of was a Republican and been largely against the war in Iraq. He's seen as a reasoned individual, a compromiser. Both he and Obama had separate meetings with Mayor Michael Bloomberg in New York, a mutual friend. The media has played up rumors of Bloomberg and Hagel running together on a third party ticket, but I don't buy that at all.
