Rabid John Georges demonstrates comedic value to Dems

Update: Now with video below

This was recorded at tonight's meeting of your Orleans Parish Democratic Executive Committee.

John Georges goes rabid at OPDEC endoresement forum from Eli Ackerman on Vimeo.

Apparently, Georges flew off the handle.

There should be even crazier audio or video floating out there. I will see if I can get it.

And by the way, OPDEC has officially endorsed:

Troy Henry for Mayor
Arnie Fielkow and Cynthia Willard-Lewis for Council at-large
Susan Guidry for Council District A
Corey Watson for Council District B
Kristin Giselson Palmer for Council District C
Cynthia Hedge-Morrell for Council District D
Austin Badon for Council District E
Dwight McKenna for Coroner
and Karen Carter Peterson for State Senate District 5.

Now, here is some video of John Georges exhibiting no shame whatsoever. It is amazing.

That should kill him with white voters, and I can't see it helping him with black voters. I suspect he was aiming his comments at power brokers who are still hoping to somehow get rid of Jim Letten. I guess Georges hasn't yet learned that we live in an age where comments aimed at a small group can end up being broadcast over the internet, what an idiot. In fairness to Georges, did anybody else say that s/he thought we needed a new U.S. attorney?

Thanks for sharing, E. That was some loud pandering.

You start sounding like this when you are desperate. There's more to come.

jeffrey said...

Once upon a time, this was just what you do. You tailor your pandering to fit the moment. We're getting closer to a situation where, as David says, this will "kill him with white voters" but only if it gets picked up and distributed widely enough.

But I think the political NOLA internets still reach a primarily white, young, middle-to-upper class audience though. And I'm pretty sure most of those people are Mitch voters anyway. Now if it makes the paper and the Teevee it hurts Georges with older, upper-class "Ron Forman" white voters. And, yes, that would kill him.

E said...

Would it? A lot of that crowd put money in.

bayoustjohndavid said...

I don't understand your comment E. Are you saying that a lot of the crowd liked his anti-Letten comments? That would be irrelevant anyway, because that crowd would be political insiders, power brokers, and wannabe power brokers, black or white. Letten is immensely popular with voters, at least with white voters -- don't know if polling about Letten's popularity with different demographics has been done.

You didn't answer my main question, if a video of every candidates' comments were released, would any other candidates have anti-Letten comments to explain?

jeffrey said...

That is a good question. Is there video of the other candidates?

AVT said...

Video exists from other quarters, as I saw some taking video, but you'd be bored by it. All stuck to their well-worn talking points, i.e. Troy said the streets "suck," James said he represents a break from the past, etc.

No one else went off the reservation, or commented on Letten for that matter, except for John.

I don't understand the Letten thing.

Six months ago WBOK and some black "leaders" were taking issue with his "targeting" black leaders.

But now, he's taken out so many "white leaders" in surrounding parishes that it seems like Letten isn't such the "boogie man" he was a while back. Heck, he's given New Orleanians so much buchshot to shoot at JP and St. Tammany they won't be able to say squat for a long time.

So why attack Letten?

I'd forward this to Vitter's camp or the local Republican constituency. Maybe they'd swiftboat Goerges.

My favorite ad from the 2002 campaign was Pennington's promise to "fix these raggedy streets" Henry's comment reminds me of that... except that it's a bit more boring.

Sorry, my comment was short because I was typing on my phone. I was saying that I wasn't sure this video would kill Georges with uptown GOPers because a lot of those industrialists have put their money into the Georges campaign already and could be quite forgiving of Georges' panderfest. Just an aside.

Attacking Letten seems especially counterintuitive politically speaking after yesterday. SR is right.

Kevin Allman said...

By dissing Letten because of his political party, Georges has just lobbed a huge softball right across the plate. Couhig will likely spread this loud and long, while Landrieu can come off as bipartisan while reminding voters that Georges was a Republican himself ("I'm a lifelong Democrat, and I still support Jim Letten"). The other candidates are likely to leave it alone and let it speak for itself.

Good catch, Eli.

I'm almost tempted to friend Rush Radio 99.5 and John Osterlind just to post this on their Facebook.

It's not worth it!

He said that because Jack Capella, the President of Georges Enterprises, appears to be caught up in the Broussard indictment mess. Target letter candidate

Weird… I was so taken with the Letten stuff it wasn’t till I watched it again and noticed he refers to the potential hospital complex as “LSU wanting to build a plantation” and says as mayor he would buy or build Methodist himself.

The plantation thing is like “wha?” But could be bad choice of words.

But, the “buy/build Methodist” himself seems like “Hey if you elect me mayor I’ll use my money to get things done.” But why don’t you just do that anyway if you can?

Oh, and found this on Hufpost... Seems maybe he gives quite a bit to Republicans

The entire thing is BS. Georges was at more Jindal & Scalise fundraisers than I can count. he is fucking lying his ass off.

Nice work, Eli.

First of all, where has this revved up Georges been? Reminds me of when Al Gore went all populist in 2000.

Now, Georges opposing Letten is all we need to know, this is big, big news.

That is an interesting point that Anonymous made, that John George's is calling out Letton "because Jack Capella, the President of Georges Enterprises, appears to be caught up in the Broussard indictment mess." Good point. What about the gambling interests that JG gave up to run for Governor? That was back hanging on him like a tar-baby before the ink on his resignation letter dried. Made my head spin! My read on JG is that he sees himself as A Democratic Man's man (Gold & diamond teeth coming, prison tats on his flabby biceps if needed). Maybe he can buy the Kingdom of Zulu and get in the headlines on Fat Tuesday...He just can't figure how to show off his Dem stripes and simultaniously bitch about Mitch, Moon & Mary.

I can't stand Curious Georges and his antics. He needs to be mayor of nothing. His antics are incredible! So you voted for Obama to get rid of Jim Letten? What a F'n jerk you are John Geoeges. Your brother is
a has been and he is not going to be the US Attorney for
the Eastern District of Louisiana. He should
thank us tax payers that he did at least retire on the federal government's dole. I got this feeling that he looks like monkey just like you do, where as, Jim Letten
is tall, dapper and handsome. So keep on hatin' on Letten baby (you damn egotistical monkey)!!!! We got Letten's back. I am a Democrat but Barack and Mary will find themselves by themselves if they keep on pissing the Independents, progressives, moderates , split ticket voters and swing voters off. I am nor a straight party voter. I vote on the issues. I am a split ticket voter. US Attorney Jim Letten is be best thing to hit SELA and Georges want him gone just to make room for his family and friends. I don't
think so monkey!!! It won't happen--not without us raising he'll and giving Obama and Landrieu their walking papers. Now just try us!!! Keep on making monkey out of yourself, Georges!!!

It is amazing this candidate has already crashed and burned. He sounds like the 3 year old with a rich Daddy. Does anyone else find this offensive? Then if all his bragging wasn't suicidal enough he goes off and attacks the most deservedly popular official in this state Jim Letten. I am wondering what Mr. Georges has to hide. There must be some reason to want Letten out. The only thing worse than having John Georges as Mayor is losing Jim Letten. That would be a crime. Mama D

Thanks for blowing Georges out of the water--the only major candidate to support re-opening Charity Hospital.

Now we get Mitch and the Mid-City site. You are my hero! Just brilliant. You are bound for the cover of Gambit along with Letten.

He wasn't completely rabid. I mean, I think we've all heard rabider. But it defintely sounds like the ranting of a desperate man. Thanks for this recording and for all that you do!
